Military Fellowship Program: A&P Mechanic

About the role

SNC's Military Fellowship Program provides up to six months of on-the-job industry training for eligible service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. Participants gain valuable work experience and build professional networks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the repair, replacement, and maintenance of aircraft key components
• Support necessary checks on mechanical and functional aircraft components
• Test and replace defective or faulty parts using various tools and equipment
• Avoid non-compliance with national and international standards of work
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of the hanger or workshop
• Demonstrate knowledge in one of three main aviation maintenance components: airframe maintenance, power plant mechanics, or Airframe & Power plant (A&P)

Requirements

• Currently serving on active duty military and eligible for the DoD SkillBridge program
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Higher level degree may substitute for experience
• Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
• Pass written, oral, and practical assessments
• Active, current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification with no prior FAA violations
• Reliable transportation to and from work locations
• Ability to speak, read, and write in English
• Familiarity with applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications

Qualifications

• FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience preferred
• Able to travel on a regular basis and/or work different shifts including overtime and weekends
• Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS) preferred
• Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military preferred
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required
