About the role
SNC's Military Fellowship Program provides up to six months of on-the-job industry training for eligible service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. Participants gain valuable work experience and build professional networks.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the repair, replacement, and maintenance of aircraft key components
- Support necessary checks on mechanical and functional aircraft components
- Test and replace defective or faulty parts using various tools and equipment
- Avoid non-compliance with national and international standards of work
- Maintain safety and cleanliness of the hanger or workshop
- Demonstrate knowledge in one of three main aviation maintenance components: airframe maintenance, power plant mechanics, or Airframe & Power plant (A&P)
Requirements
- Currently serving on active duty military and eligible for the DoD SkillBridge program
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Higher level degree may substitute for experience
- Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
- Pass written, oral, and practical assessments
- Active, current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification with no prior FAA violations
- Reliable transportation to and from work locations
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English
- Familiarity with applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications
Qualifications
- FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience preferred
- Able to travel on a regular basis and/or work different shifts including overtime and weekends
- Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS) preferred
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military preferred
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required
