About the role
Responsible for oversight and direction of the Milieu and all milieu direct care staff. Manage day-to-day operations of the units to ensure clinical aspects meet all regulatory requirements for the residents.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safe and effective day-to-day management of the milieu through adequate staff coverage, training, and developing sound policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Plan and develop unit schedules and provide a safe and positive environment on the units.
- Maintain staff-to-resident ratio compliance.
- Provide training, orientation, feedback, coaching, mentoring, and corrective action for staff.
- Identify staff development, training, and compliance issues with required training.
- Recruit, interview, select, hire, and promote employees for the milieu staff.
- Provide direction to the Milieu Coordinator regarding scheduling of staff as required by regulation and safety needs.
- Oversee or facilitate individual admission and discharge processes.
- Manage the maintenance of records, ensuring content, accuracy, and timeliness of paperwork required by milieu staff.
- Ensure 100% compliance of individual records.
- Maintain timekeeping for staff and conduct staff evaluations.
- Provide direction and assistance in supervising residents during crisis intervention, emergency, and conflict situations, which may include physical management and/or de-escalation.
- Debrief with staff and residents after interventions.
- Assist with patients and cover units/group homes as necessary to maintain ratio.
- Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times.
- Acknowledge and work to resolve complaints when patient needs are not met.
- Prioritize patient safety.
- Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a human service field from an accredited college or university.
- Five or more years’ experience in a behavioral health environment.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
- First aid certification may be required based on state or facility.
