About the role

Vassar Brothers Medical Center of Nuvance Health, proudly joining Northwell Health, is seeking an experienced Certified Nurse Midwife or Certified Midwife to serve as the regional midwife director. This role leads a team of 7 midwives providing full-scope midwifery care in both outpatient and inpatient settings, alongside 2 full-time outpatient-only midwives. The position is 0.8 clinical and 0.2 administrative FTE, with an anticipated schedule of one 24-hour in-house call shift and one 8-hour clinical office day per week.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for the midwifery practice serving Vassar Brothers Medical Center and ambulatory sites in Poughkeepsie, Fishkill, and Highland
• Oversee, mentor, and manage the performance of site-based midwives
• Ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered maternity and gynecologic care across the region
• Collaborate with site physician and nursing leaders, hospital administration, and system women’s health leadership to align clinical standards, staffing models, quality initiatives, and professional practice
• Maintain an active clinical presence

Requirements

• Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) or Certified Midwife (CM) with current New York State licensure
• Prior experience as a Midwife Director, Lead Midwife, or equivalent leadership role
• Experience in multi-site or regional program leadership
• Experience with quality improvement, safety initiatives, and interdisciplinary care models

Pay

$130,000–$200,000 per year, commensurate with experience and internal equity review
