Vassar Brothers Medical Center of Nuvance Health, proudly joining Northwell Health, is seeking an experienced Certified Nurse Midwife or Certified Midwife to join their team as the regional midwife director.

About the role

We are building a team of 7 midwives providing full-scope midwifery care in the office and in the hospital alongside 2 full-time outpatient only midwives. If you are excited by the opportunity to help grow and shape a practice as the leader of the midwifery group, this is the job for you!

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for the midwifery practice serving Vassar Brothers Medical Center as well as ambulatory clinical sites in Poughkeepsie, Fishkill, and Highland.
  • Ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered maternity and gynecologic care across the region.
  • Works collaboratively with site physician and nursing leaders, hospital administration, and the system women’s health leadership team to support alignment of clinical standards, staffing models, quality initiatives, and professional practice across sites.
  • Maintains an active clinical presence while functioning as 0.8 clinical and 0.2 administrative FTE with an anticipated schedule of one 24-hour in-house call shift and one 8-hour clinical office day per week.

Requirements

  • Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) or Certified Midwife (CM) with current New York State licensure (or eligibility for NY licensure)
  • Graduate of an accredited midwifery education program
  • Active AMCB board certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical midwifery experience
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting
  • Strong communication, coaching, and change management skills

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Midwife Director, Lead Midwife, or equivalent leadership role
  • Experience in multi-site or regional program leadership
  • Experience with quality improvement, safety initiatives, and interdisciplinary care models

Benefits

Salary: ($130,000-$230,000/yr.) commensurate with experience.
