Middle School Spanish (LTS) Teacher (Grades 5-8)

About the role

Derby Academy, a Pre‑Kindergarten through Grade 8 co‑educational day school in Hingham, Massachusetts, seeks a Middle School Long Term Substitute Spanish teacher beginning in January 2027 and lasting until mid‑June. Rooted in the school’s motto, “Improve Both Mind and Heart,” the Middle School provides a joyful and rigorous academic environment.

Responsibilities

• Teach Spanish classes for grades 5‑8.
• Collaborate with department and grade‑level colleagues to deliver language instruction.
• May serve as an advisor, leader of a club, or a coach.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Spanish or education with a focus on Spanish.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.
• Demonstrated experience working with middle‑school students.
• At least one year of previous teaching experience preferred (Massachusetts teacher certification not required).

Pay

Salary range: $64,277 – $80,564 (based on years of experience and degree).
