Middle School Spanish (LTS) Grades 5-8

About the role

Derby Academy, a Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8 co-educational day school located in Hingham, Massachusetts, seeks a Middle School Long Term Substitute Spanish teacher beginning in January, 2027 lasting until mid‑June. Rooted in the school’s motto, “Improve Both Mind and Heart,” Derby’s Middle School provides students with a joyful and rigorous academic environment.

Responsibilities

• Teach Spanish classes for grades 5‑8.
• Work with department and grade‑level colleagues to deliver language instruction.
• May serve as an advisor, leader of a club, or a coach.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Spanish or education with a focus on Spanish.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.
• Demonstrated experience working with middle school students.
• At least one year of previous teaching experience preferred.
• Massachusetts teacher certification not required.
