Middle School Girls Basketball Assistant Coach (seasonal)

About the role

Part-time Middle School assistant girls basketball coach. The season runs from early November through early February. The position reports to both the Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach and the Director of Athletics. Candidates should expect a regular weekday commitment of 60‑90 minute practices with two‑three games per week. This position will remain open until filled.

Responsibilities

• Assist with tryouts and team selection in consultation with the V Head Coach
• Help plan and execute effective practices
• Create and execute game strategy
• Drive a minibus to all road games
• Collaborate with all coaches in the girls basketball program and DA Athletics trainers, staff, administration and faculty

Requirements

• Experience playing or coaching basketball at the interscholastic or collegiate level.
• Commitment to providing a safe, healthy, joyful environment for practice and play.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability and eagerness to maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with all members of the school community (student‑athletes, families, alumni, teachers, administrators and fellow coaches).
• Ability to lead student‑athletes with competitive energy and formative care.
• Culturally competent and believe in the central importance of diversity and equity in the life of a school community.
• Can work independently with minimal supervision and routinely prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to work in complex environments with a high degree of organizational effectiveness and attention to detail.
