About the Role

Assistant Girls Basketball Coach for Jackson Hole Middle School. The position is available from the beginning of the season in November 2026 through March 2027.

Requirements

  • Must have or be able to obtain a Wyoming Coaching Permit with an endorsement in Basketball prior to the start of the season. Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB).
  • Coaching permit or endorsement options:
    • Head coach, assistant coach, or transitional coach permit. View requirements.
    • Coaching endorsements are offered in: Basketball, Football, Golf, Gymnastics, Skiing, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis, Track/Cross Country, Volleyball, Wrestling, and Softball.
  • All paid coaches must hold either:
    • A coaching endorsement (if you have a Wyoming Educator License), or
    • A coaching permit (if you do not hold a Wyoming Educator License).
  • Permits or endorsements must be obtained prior to the season beginning to receive compensation. If obtained during the season, compensation will be prorated.
  • Submit PTSB coaching application before the season starts. Applications can be found here.
  • U.S. and Wyoming Constitution requirement:
    • Complete testing or submit qualifying college coursework covering U.S. History prior to 1865 and the U.S. Constitution.
    • Political Science courses may qualify if they include study of the Constitution.
    • Graduates from a Wyoming Community College or the University of Wyoming may have completed this requirement if they earned a "C" or higher.
  • Exams can be proctored by TCSD by appointment. Email wyoptsb@wyo.gov to schedule. Study guides:

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification required before the season starts. Must be hands-on training (no online courses accepted). Accepted providers:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association (Heartsaver® program)
    • College or University coursework in First Aid/CPR
    • NFHS Sport First Aid Course
    • American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Sport First Aid Course

    Certification must be valid and issued within the last three years.

  • Complete free online certifications:
    • Concussion course (NFHS)
    • Bullying, Hazing, and Inappropriate Behaviors course (NFHS)

  • Fingerprinting required for state and district:
    • Four fingerprint cards: 2 for PTSB and 2 for TCSD.
    • Can be done at any sheriff's office (fees vary).
    • Teton County requires an appointment: Schedule online.
  • Complete district paperwork to be entered into payroll system.
