BHASD is seeking a Middle School Assistant Girls Basketball Coach to instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success. The coach must demonstrate behaviors that foster socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes. The role includes upgrading knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training.
  • Demonstrate and promote behaviors that lead to character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride in student athletes.
  • Upgrade coaching knowledge and skills through clinics, observations, and consultation.
  • Balance community and parental expectations with objectives of good sportsmanship and mental health.
  • Exercise common sense and good judgment in situations not explicitly covered by guidelines.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • Evidence of effective leadership and previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport.
  • Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of basketball and a commitment to staying updated on new theories and procedures.
  • Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Schedule

  • Part-time, no benefits.
  • Winter Athletic Season (Girls Middle School Basketball): approximately mid-November through mid-February.

Pay

Co-Curricular Stipend: $1,800 per season.
