Responsibilities

• Teach literary analysis, informational text comprehension, grammar, writing conventions, vocabulary development, argumentative and narrative writing, research skills, and speaking/listening competencies.
• Explain theme analysis, figurative language, essay structure, and citation practices to prepare students for high school English and standardized assessments.
• Integrate reading, writing, grammar, and oral communication instruction for middle school English Language Arts.
• Guide students through analyzing literature and informational texts, writing multi-paragraph essays, applying grammar rules, and participating in academic discussions.
• Develop critical literacy skills and connect English language arts to personal expression, media literacy, and cross-curricular learning.
• Adapt instruction using diverse reading materials, writing workshops, and grammar-in-context activities to support students at varying proficiency levels.
• Identify concepts students commonly struggle with and explain material using multiple approaches tailored to individual learning needs.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of middle school ELA standards for grades six through eight, including common challenges like literary analysis depth, essay organization, and grammar application in writing.
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
