About the role
The Middle School Dean of SEL and Community is responsible for overseeing the social and emotional learning (SEL) initiatives and community building efforts at Mott Haven Middle School. This position plays a crucial role in fostering a positive school culture and ensuring that all students are supported academically and emotionally.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation and evaluation of SEL programs and initiatives
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with parents, guardians, and community partners to support student success
- Facilitate regular meetings with faculty and staff to discuss student progress and address any issues
- Collaborate with other school leaders to ensure alignment of SEL goals across the school
- Conduct regular assessments of the school's SEL climate and make recommendations for improvement
Requirements
- A Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role within a K-12 educational setting
- Experience in social and emotional learning (SEL)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders
Qualifications
- Knowledge of best practices in SEL and community engagement
- Experience in developing and implementing comprehensive SEL plans
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with students, families, and community members
