Mid Litigation Attorney

About the role

Cesar Ornelas Law is seeking a driven and experienced Mid-Level Litigation Attorney to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an attorney with a strong litigation background who is ready to take ownership of cases, drive strategy, and advocate for clients through all phases of litigation.

Responsibilities

• Manage a litigation caseload from filing through trial, developing case strategy, and advocating on behalf of clients in court and during negotiations.
• Develop and execute case strategies, including discovery plans and motion practice.
• Draft, review, and argue pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
• Take and defend depositions, including plaintiffs, defendants, and experts.
• Handle court appearances, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
• Collaborate with pre-litigation teams to transition and evaluate cases for litigation.
• Mentor junior attorneys and support staff as needed.
• Ensure compliance with all court deadlines and procedural requirements.

Education And Experience

• 5+ years of personal injury litigation experience.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.
• Active license to practice law in Texas and/or New Mexico.
• Proven courtroom and litigation experience, including depositions and hearings.
• Trial experience preferred.
• Experience with legal case management systems (Salesforce preferred).
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
