About the role

The Mid-Level Grid Modernization Engineer will be involved in projects with WSP’s Distribution Advanced Studies Team and contribute to a growing organization that meets clients' objectives and solves their challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, justify, and support the modernization of utility distribution systems through FLISR, Volt-Var Optimization, or other similar programs (IVVC, CVR)
  • Support Distribution Resiliency initiatives through ADMS (Advance Distribution Management Systems)
  • Develop and implement electrification strategies for transportation
  • Design and manage DER Solutions (DERMS, NWA/NWS, Hosting Capacity)
  • Utilize advanced planning techniques such as 8760 and Quasi Static Time Series Analysis
  • Collaborate with various professionals and engineers across different disciplines
  • Prepare data and visualizations for interpretation and presentation
  • Manage project schedules and budgets
  • Present findings and analyses at industry conferences and working groups
  • Exercise ethical decision-making and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer
  • Understanding of engineering theories and principles, including research, evaluation, and recommendation making
  • Ability to work effectively across teams and take initiative
  • Strong command of English language with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Passing client’s background screening processes
  • Basic OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) and basic first aid/CPR training

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering
  • EIT Certification or PE Licensure
  • Experience managing small to mid-size projects

  • Compensation range: $107,500 - $177,300 per year (all locations), $100,800 - $166,400 per year (Colorado only)
