Mid-Level Grid Modernization Engineer

About the role

The Mid-Level Grid Modernization Engineer will be involved in projects with WSP's Distribution Advanced Studies Team and contribute to a growing organization that meets clients' objectives and solves their challenges. Key responsibilities include modernizing utility distribution systems through projects like FLISR, Volt-Var Optimization, Distribution Resiliency, ADMS, Electrification of Transportation, DER Solutions, and Advance Planning Techniques.

Responsibilities

• Plan, justify, and support Distribution Grid Modernization Programs
• Interact with various stakeholders to gather necessary information for electrical distribution system studies
• Prepare data and visualizations for interpretation and presentation
• Exercise authority and technical leadership on critical or complex projects
• Manage project schedules and budgets
• Collaborate with professionals from different disciplines on business development opportunities
• Participate in industry working groups and conferences
• Support other engineering disciplines such as Protection, Planning, and SCADA
• Ensure adherence to company policies and conduct

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer
• Understanding of engineering theories and principles, including research, evaluation, and recommendation making
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently and lead small to mid-size projects
• Passing client background screening processes
• Knowledge of OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER), Basic First Aid, and Adult CPR

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Engineering
• EIT Certification or PE Licensure
• Experience managing small to mid-size projects

Pay

• Expected Salary Range: $107,500 - $177,300 per year (all locations)
• Expected Salary Range: $100,800 - $166,400 per year (Colorado only)

• Some travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
