Mid-Level Grid Modernization Engineer

About the role

The Mid-Level Grid Modernization Engineer will be involved in projects with WSP's Distribution Advanced Studies Team and contribute to a growing organization that meets clients' objectives and solves their challenges.

Responsibilities

• Modernize utility distribution systems through planning, justification, and ongoing support of FLISR, Volt-Var Optimization, or other similar programs (IVVC, CVR)
• Support Distribution Resiliency ADMS, Electrification of Transportation, DER Solutions (DERMS, NWA/NWS, Hosting Capacity), and Advance Planning Techniques (8760, Quasi Static Time Series Analysis)
• Interact with various stakeholders to gather necessary information for electrical distribution system studies
• Lead and perform engineering tasks on critical or analytical projects requiring specialized knowledge in multiple areas
• Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, cross-sections, and illustrations
• Exercise authority and technical leadership on strategic projects with significant long-term implications
• Track project schedules and budgets
• Collaborate with professionals and engineers from different disciplines on proposal and business development opportunities
• Participate in industry working groups and conferences
• Occasionally travel to support project requirements
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for large capital projects
• Understanding of basic to advanced engineering theories and principles, including research, evaluation, recommendation, and report preparation
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams, self-motivated, and proactive in learning new topics
• Strong command of English language; excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present information, facilitate meetings, and direct others
• Passing client’s background screening processes
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adhering to WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Engineering
• Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification or Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure
• Experience managing small to mid-size projects
• 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred
• Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired

• Compensation range: $107,500 - $177,300 per year (all locations) / $100,800 - $166,400 per year (Colorado only)
