MICROSOFT OFFICE ASSISTANT
This program consists of two classes designed to meet the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification requirements. Competencies align with the California High School Academic Content Standards and the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standard.

Microsoft Office Specialist 1: Word | Core/Expert Levels (90 Hours)
This competency-based course provides technical instruction and practical experience in Word at core and expert levels. Instruction includes orientation, workplace safety, and employability skills.
Core Level: Working with texts, paragraphs, and documents; file management; use of tables; working with pictures and charts.
Expert Level: Working with paragraphs and documents; using tables; working with pictures and charts; using mail merge and advanced features; collaborating with workgroups.
Tuition: $0 | Books/Supplies/Fees: Approximately $100

Microsoft Office Specialist 2: Excel | Core/Expert Levels (90 Hours)
This competency-based course provides technical instruction and practical experience in Excel at core and expert levels. Instruction includes an introduction, resource management, business math, entrepreneurship, and reviews of workplace safety and employability skills.
Core Level: Working with cells and files; formatting worksheets; page setup and printing; working with worksheets and workbooks; using charts and objects.
Expert Level: Using templates and multiple workbooks; formatting numbers; printing workbooks; working with toolbars; using macros; displaying and formatting data; using analysis tools; collaborating with workgroups.

- Reading Assessment: 228 or higher on CASAS GOALS reading assessment

- Prerequisite for Excel course: Completion of Microsoft Office Specialist 1: Word | Core/Expert Levels
Additional Information
Separate costs for books, exams, supplies, preparation, certifications, and/or licenses provided by outside vendors may be incurred. Once a Certificate of Completion is earned in a course, that course cannot be repeated.
