Microbiology Lab Associate - Entry Level

Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine sampling activities in controlled manufacturing and laboratory areas.
- Collect samples from high-purity water systems, clean steam systems, and compressed gas systems for microbiological monitoring.
- Support cleanroom monitoring activities and adherence to aseptic and contamination-control practices.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization, including cleaning controlled temperature units and supporting routine lab upkeep.
- Operate laboratory equipment, including autoclaves, according to established procedures.
- Affiliate with coordination of equipment maintenance, calibration, and documentation.
- Utilize Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to manage samples and associated records.
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with GMP and site procedures.
- Participate in overtime, weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage as business needs require.
Cleanroom Requirements
- No cosmetic products (such as makeup or false eyelashes) while entering controlled areas.
- Nails must be short, clean, and free of polish or decorations.
- No jewelry permitted except approved medical alert items or one smooth ring band.
- Hair must be secured and fully contained within appropriate cleanroom coverings.
- Facial hair must be appropriately contained using a beard cover when applicable.
Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific field; OR Associate degree in a Life Sciences discipline with relevant industry experience.
- Ability to perform physical job requirements, including: Lifting 25 pounds or more, Standing and walking for extended periods, Pushing and pulling carts or equipment, Bending and reaching as necessary.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to learn new techniques, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accurate records.
- Proficiency with computer systems and electronic documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States indefinitely without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or GMP-regulated environment.
- Knowledge of microbiology laboratory practices.
- Familiarity with microbial identification techniques.
- Understanding of cGMP regulations and documentation requirements.
- Experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Prior sampling, cleanroom, or contamination-control experience.
