MH Equipment Coordinator

About the role

The Clinical Equipment Coordinator (CEC) manages the Common Pool Medical Equipment (CPME) and related supplies to ensure sufficient devices and accessories are available for clinical staff to deliver proper patient care. The CEC works closely with Nursing, Materials Management, Transport, and Biomedical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties in accordance with Materials Management Policies and Procedures.
• Carry a pager and respond promptly to service requests.
• Maintain an accurate and dynamic inventory of all CPME throughout the medical center.
• Clean and tag equipment to established standards.
• Monitor and maintain par levels of CPME and consumables/accessories by performing daily rounds in nursing floors, equipment rooms, and patient rooms.
• Track consumable/accessory inventories and submit purchase lists to Materials Management.
• Respond to all service requests for CPME, determining if issues are equipment-related, operator-related, or procedural.
• Send equipment to Biomedical Engineering for testing, repair, and upgrades.
• Ensure Preventative Maintenance inspections occur on time for CPME by partnering with Biomedical Engineering.
• Interface with Nursing and Materials Management to facilitate rental of CPME during high census periods.
• Research and present product information, upgrade options, and pricing to Nursing Management for wise purchasing and operation of CPME.
• Assist in coordinating clinical trials and evaluations, including product information, logistical issues, warranty details, and staff education plans.

Job Relationships

• Nursing:
  • Provide ongoing training to Nursing staff on CEC functions.
  • Communicate with Nursing to determine and maintain par levels for equipment and consumables.
  • Assist Nursing in following procedures for rotating and cleaning CPME.
• Materials Management:
  • Provide ongoing training to Materials Management staff on CEC functions.
  • Obtain training on Storeroom systems and assist in setting up an interactive system for CPME accessories and consumables.
• Patient Transport:
  • Train and maintain competency as a Patient Transport Associate.
  • Assist Patient Transport during high call volume or short staffing.
  • Rotate one weekend day shift every three weeks as a Patient Transport Associate.

• Experience in a healthcare environment.

• Basic technical knowledge of clinical equipment preventive and corrective repair standards.
• Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment repairs.

• Ability to explain and demonstrate correct operation of clinical equipment to medical personnel.

Qualifications

High school diploma and/or experience with clinical equipment or supplies.

Pay

Pay Range: $19.79 - $28.86 per hour

Schedule

Per Diem, variable shifts.
