About the Role

Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) is seeking a strategic, results-driven, and people-focused leader to provide overall leadership and direction for the NNS salaried recruiting team. This team handles full-cycle recruiting, university and veteran relations, and candidate pipeline management. The selected leader will partner with business leadership to anticipate workforce demands, develop innovative recruiting strategies, and align talent acquisition efforts with organizational priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop recruiting management, establish strategic priorities, and drive accountability for achieving salaried hiring objectives.
• Partner with business leadership to anticipate workforce demands and align talent acquisition efforts with organizational priorities.
• Develop innovative recruiting strategies and build collaborative partnerships.
• Provide strategic oversight of full-cycle recruiting, university and veteran relations, and talent pipeline development.
• Drive operational excellence, process improvements, and an exceptional candidate experience.
• Leverage recruiting analytics, labor market intelligence, and performance metrics to assess effectiveness, optimize resources, and mitigate workforce risks.
• Foster collaboration, develop high-performing leaders, and drive shared accountability.
• Conduct interviews, evaluate employment factors, prepare ratings on applicants, and make recommendations on starting salaries.
• Administer tests, check references, arrange transportation, extend formal job offers, and work with outside agencies and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience.
• Master’s Degree and 6 years of relevant experience may also qualify.
• Equivalent experience options in lieu of Bachelor's Degree:
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2-year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

Skills

• Strong leadership capabilities and ability to develop high-performing teams.
• Familiarity with employment law, hiring practices, and compliance requirements for government contractors.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and relationship-building skills.
• Commitment to regulatory compliance, leadership development, and positioning NNS as an employer of choice.

Pay

Salary Range: $143,000.00 to $179,000.00. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.

Schedule

Full-Time, 1st Shift. Travel required 10%-25% of the time. Not eligible for telework.
