The Aurora Central Engineering organization seeks an innovative and motivated Systems Engineering Manager 2 to manage a staff of approximately 50 Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) engineers in support of ground technology programs and pursuits. This position will report on-site daily in Aurora, Colorado, providing leadership across one or more programs. Previous experience with satellite payloads, ground systems, or aerospace technology is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Functional oversight of an engineering organization working multiple programs, IRAD initiatives, and new business capture opportunities
• Contribute to bids and proposals with systems engineering estimates, staffing plans, and technical approach
• Maintain a fundamental understanding of technical execution on key programs
• Identify skill gaps within the team and create a training roadmap to improve engineering excellence
• Lead a team of systems engineers, providing coaching and mentorship
• Oversight of recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new and experienced employees
• Promote employee inclusion and mentoring
• Performance management and career development
• Balance the needs of employees and programs, engaging with both as required
• Ensure process compliance and support functional department initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 11 years of progressive technical experience; Master's degree with 9 years; PhD with 7 years
• 3+ years of leadership experience in engineering or related technical fields
• Strong understanding of the engineering development lifecycle across multiple engineering disciplines (SEIT, SW, HW, O&S)
• Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility at time of application and willingness to sit for a polygraph

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 12 years of progressive technical experience in engineering
• 6+ years of leadership experience in engineering or related technical fields
• Understanding of business development and capture strategies, Earned Value Management/Cost Account Management (EVM/CAM), program risk management, and technical, cost, & schedule impacts as it relates to managing engineering projects
• Experience working on Agile programs and methodology

Pay

Primary level salary range: $161,100.00 - $241,700.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
