What You Will Do
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Operational Accounting Department.
- Prioritize staff development through regular meetings, training, and cross-training opportunities.
- Communicate findings from general ledger account reconciliations to relevant stakeholders for resolution.
- Provide performance feedback and coordinate adequate department coverage for daily duties and during peak periods.
- Review and analyze departmental procedures to ensure deadlines are met and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement performance goals and mentor staff members through coaching and guidance.
- Approve leave requests and timesheets, create schedules for daily and end-of-month posting, and oversee the hiring of new personnel.
- Be involved in the implementation of new projects and initiatives by attending meetings, participating in the testing process, and developing procedures.
- Create new accounts with MoneyGram for future branches or departments, coordinate delivery of equipment and supplies, and ensure adherence to established policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Maintain effective internal controls and assist with opening and closing of general ledgers and establishing new cost centers.
- Complete any other job-related duties as needed to support the organization's vision, purpose, and values.
What We Require
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent education and/or experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience in a financial institution.
- Good verbal and written communication skills conducive to training, counseling, and mentoring employees.
- Independent thinking, self-motivation, and problem-solving to manage multiple priorities set by Management.
- Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word), including advanced MS Excel skills.
- Able to convey clear, concise information in various communication formats and demonstrate active listening.
- Good interpersonal skills and leadership abilities to motivate employees and develop a cohesive team in a high-volume environment.
