Mgr, Accounting

About the role

The Manager, Accounting will oversee the day-to-day and month-end accounting activities. Working under the direction of the Director, NSC Controller, the Manager, Accounting directs and coordinates the daily activities of the accounting staff to efficiently and accurately record operational activities within the general ledger. This role is ideal for a motivated, self-starting individual who can think outside the box and help the team scale for growth through technology and process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for assigned operational accounting activities required to maintain the general ledger, including leading the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes.
• Review and approve journal entries prepared by the team.
• Review account reconciliations on all balance sheet accounts and analyze them to determine the appropriateness of the balances. Prepare reconciliations on certain higher-risk or complex account balances.
• Review, investigate, and resolve significant accounting and reporting issues.
• Manage, train, and supervise a team that may comprise supervisors, senior accountants, and staff accountants.
• Liaise with external auditors and ensure timely preparation and review of audit workpapers.
• Partner with regional finance management to provide requested accounting support.
• Perform appropriate commentary on flux or trend explanations of financial statements on a monthly basis. Perform other ad hoc analyses as needed by management.
• Identify, develop, and implement improvements in operational procedures as well as technology innovations to scale for continued growth.
• Develop, implement, and execute policies, goals, and objectives within the department, as well as establish enhanced documentation for all accounting-related functions.
• Review key contracts and complex arrangements to ensure compliance with US GAAP.
• Support, review, and implement new accounting pronouncement changes when applicable to the company. Assist in establishing proper internal controls over key accounting functions.
• Understand Oracle Fusion applications. Manage projects related to accounting software implementations and upgrades with Oracle.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Maintain strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Engage in excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Perform special projects, analyses, and other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and over 7 years of general ledger accounting experience, including prior supervisory experience.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills with advanced knowledge in Excel software applications and formulas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a multi-regional healthcare, retail, or dental company.
• Master’s Degree in Accounting.
• Certified Public Accountant licensure.
• Knowledge of Oracle Fusion.

Pay

$116,000.00 - $150,000.00 / Annually
