MF/Pretreatment Operator

About the role

The MF/Pretreatment Operator III is a dual-duty position in the Fluids Department, including Microfiltration (MF) and Whey Pre-treatment.

• Microfiltration (MF): Independently operates the entire MF system and both milk skimming systems (“MF” and “HTST#1”). Manages skim milk, sweet cream, and MF retentate silos. Maintains close communication with the Milk Intake and Mozzarella Make departments.
• Whey Pre-treatment: Independently operates the whey pre-treatment system, separators, and the whey cream UHT system. Manages whey buffer silos and stays in close communication with the whey plant.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment (MF system and/or Whey pre-treatment) and records all pertinent data on record sheets.
• Takes necessary samples to ensure proper equipment operation and compliance with Lactalis regulations.
• Works closely with the Quality and Food Safety Team to ensure product quality and specifications are continually met.
• Applies and ensures adherence to safety rules.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: One year of experience in a related field is preferred but not required.
• Specialized Knowledge: Dairy processing, including fluid handling and separation processes.
• Skills/Abilities:
  • Detail-oriented and reliable.
  • Skilled in operating pre-treatment systems and separators.
  • Able to identify and resolve issues in fluids processing systems.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn.
  • Understands different systems (MF, HTST, UHT).
• Physical Requirements:
  • Able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to stand for at least 8 hours per day.
  • Willing to work over 40 hours per week.
