About the role
Secure the success for medmix in the US and global markets by ensuring reliable, cost effective and efficient availability of medmix products and services. As a Metrologist, you will be responsible for the design, specification, development and implementation of measurement systems for various devices.
Responsibilities
- Investigate advanced metrology methods, including multi-sensor CMMs, non-contact inspection systems, and advanced sensors and gaging methods
- Work with minimal supervision/engineering oversight on a moderate level of engineering support tasks
- Design and implement manufacturing and QC processes, including machinery selection and automation level selection
- Develop and improve fixtures and new parts
- Lead the qualification of new measurement and testing equipment
- Consult and guide site/supplier end users on training and maintenance of new fixtures and equipment
- Maintain calibration systems, including risk assessments, calibration schedules, and assist in out-of-spec instrument investigations
- Conduct static and dynamic repeatability studies for measurement fixtures, manufacturing tooling, and inline measurement gauges
- Evaluate and provide input to inspection processes via inspection aids and instruction guidelines
- Provide hands-on support to manufacturing during prototyping and production to ensure high yield product release
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on aligning processes with future business needs
- Take ownership as the point of contact for metrology issues and train staff accordingly
- Support all shifts of 24/7 operations, may need to work off-shift temporarily
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, physics, or mathematical engineering
- Proven experience working in a similar role, specifically in the metrology field
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and analytical mindset
- Initiative-taking and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Previous experience working in GxP laboratories preferred
- Developing knowledge of the basic principles in various engineering disciplines
- Understanding of mechanical drawings including GD&T
- Experience with statistical analysis
- Knowledge of mechanical inspection methods and tools
