Key Responsibilities
- Prepare measurement reports per customer specifications.
- Determine if first article parts are acceptable.
- Implement new innovative practices to promote part accuracy, and proficiency.
- Use Polyworks Metrology Software to inspect high tolerance finished components designed with minimal fixturing to preform article inspection.
- Advise shop management, supervisors, and planners, during the planning and costing phase, on the difficulty, complexity and potential issues which may arise during the inspection process.
- Analyze and diagnose problems which may arise during the inspection process.
- Utilize Polyworks or Spatial Analyzer to determine root cause of potential issues and develop methods and processes to ensure that similar issues are reduce or eliminate in future tasks.
- Perform Laser Tracker measurements according to the Model Fabrication Facility policies and standard practices.
- Design specialized tooling fixtures to be used to support the production of complex machined components.
- Apply knowledge of engineering disciplines in structural design, weld design materials applications and prototype design.
Qualifications
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with utilizing high precision measurement equipment (coordinate measurement machines (CMMs), laser tracker equipment, ultrasonic devices, calipers, verniers, electronic protractors, squares, height gauges, depth gauges, indicators, and micrometers) and performing computerized spatial analysis.
- Knowledge of manufacturing trades including industrial and commercial manufacturing processes to contribute to the engineering design and development function.
- Experience with generating and delivering measurement reports per customer specifications.
- Thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices, including NIST.
- Experience with PolyWorks and Spatial Analyzer.
