Metal Fabricator/Millwright (MGR)

Regular Full-Time, Non-Exempt position at the Mitsubishi site in Greer, SC. This is a safety-sensitive role without travel or per diem.

Schedule

• Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am – 5:30 pm (40 hours per week)
• Occasional overtime as needed

Responsibilities

Essential

• Analyze blueprints, drawings, work orders, and sketches to fabricate and install desired products or parts
• Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet-metal products and equipment (carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel)
• Perform industrial fabrication using carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless steel
• Inspect, assemble, and smooth seams and joints of burred surfaces
• Set up machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal
• Measure, cut, and shape metal materials according to design
• Use specialized tools and equipment (anvils, blocks, brakes, forms, hammers) to cut and shape metals
• Check all structural components prior to installation to prevent damage
• Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
• Assemble metal components by welding, riveting, screwing, or using other fasteners
• Inspect final products for quality and adherence to specified design
• Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools
• Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks
• Assemble and install equipment (shafting, conveyors, tram rails) using hand tools and power tools, fastening them to foundations or other structures
• Repair and lubricate machines and equipment as needed
• Participate in daily toolbox talks
• Follow all safety procedures, practices, and regulations before, during, and after processes to foster a safety-first culture

Non-Essential / Other

• Maintain tools and equipment
• Conduct process inspection, certification, and documentation
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements

• Four (4) years of experience in metal fabrication and millwright work
• Ability to perform various types of welding
• Extensive knowledge of structural and sheet-metal repairs, modifications, and fabrication of sheet-metal parts
• Ability to create sketches to fabricate miscellaneous parts and make repairs
• Ability to rig machinery and equipment to OSHA standards
• Ability to detect errors and correct them through proper channels
• Thorough working knowledge of blueprints to determine configuration and special instructions prior to installation
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and sense of urgency
• Ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality of work
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Strong customer-service, communication (listening and speaking), and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with minimal direct supervision, relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines
• Experience supporting a positive safety culture
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation(s)

Preferred Qualifications

• More than four (4) years of experience in metal fabrication and millwright work
