MEPS – Bilingual Field Interviewer

Westat · Fairfax, VA · 2 wk ago
OTHR$5.35/hrInternship

About the role

Westat is seeking Bilingual Field Interviewers for the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS), a study of health care costs and usage in the United States sponsored by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), part of the Department of Health and Human Services. MEPS is a panel survey featuring several rounds of interviews with the same respondents to collect information for two full calendar years. Bilingual Field Interviewers conduct in-person and computer-assisted video interviews in English and Spanish with adult members of households drawn from a nationally representative sample, using a Westat‑provided laptop. Responsibilities include contacting households in‑person and/or by phone to gain cooperation, setting appointments, completing interviews, collecting and following up with electronic and hard‑copy signed documents, transmitting electronic data daily, and complying with all required data security and confidentiality requirements. Travel to the mandatory in‑person training in January 2027 is required, as is travel to local and occasionally long‑distance households, sometimes involving overnight travel. This federal government project is subject to the Service Contract Act (SCA). Working on this study can be a fascinating and rewarding experience; reliable self‑starters may find this position a good fit. Upon successful completion, interviewers are eligible for consideration for reassignment to other Westat field data collection projects.
