Overview
MEP Technician II is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and service on the electrical - mechanical systems supporting the Data Center. The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, with the ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair a wide range of building systems to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Responsibilities
- Provides high quality, accurate, consistent, and efficient work for internal and external customer service surrounding the Company values
- Adopts and uses defined systems, tools, procedures, processes, and standards
- Proactively manages ticket queue for timely request and response completion
- Manages and completes assigned projects and reports progress
- Updates documentation in a timely and accurate manner
- Performs all daily operational tasks
- Supports and validates power infrastructure and deployment
- Provides remote hands and eyes support for internal or external client issues
- Ensures all aspects of the physical infrastructure are kept clean and orderly
- Performs routine physical inspections for alarm identification and operational issues
- Understands and follows escalation procedures
- Adheres to security procedures and controls
- Follows all safety guidelines and best practices
- In emergency situations, dispatch technicians and or vendors, as needed, in the absence of Management
- Provides technical guidance to less experienced site personnel
- Installation and termination of network, access control and communication wiring and components
- Record and maintain power metrics and other related details on a regular basis
- Installation of new equipment and removal of systems as required
- Assist in the physical installation of computer equipment and components, cable tray, and cabling
- Other responsibilities as required
Qualifications
- Electrical: Strong proficiency with the following: Multi-module or single module UPS systems, Low and medium voltage switchgear, Low and medium voltage diesel generators, Raised floor or overhead bus power distribution, PLC controls and components. Exercise flexibility in challenging situations. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to provide direction to Operations Technicians in absence of Management. Working knowledge of automated building control systems. Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of standards, practices and procedures of installing, testing and operating electrical and mechanical equipment. Usually works with limited supervision.
- Mechanical/Plumbing: Strong proficiency with the following: Datacenter HVAC and related components; ie CRAC/CRAH, chillers, cooling towers and rooftop units, Plumbing/Piping and related components, PLC controls and components. Proven proficiency in the operation of 100% uptime data centers, critical facilities environment or industrial power systems. Exercise flexibility in challenging situations. Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills. Extensive experience with detailed record keeping and data entry accuracy. Ability to read and analyze blueprints and construction drawings including one-line diagrams. Working knowledge of automated building control systems. Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of standards, practices and procedures of installing, testing and operating electrical and mechanical equipment. Usually works with limited supervision.
