Mental Health Technician PRN - Our Lady of the Angels
Responsibilities
- Affords assistance with activities of daily living, toileting, feeding, and grooming.
- Makes beds and cleans rooms as needed.
- Takes and records patient vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and respirations under the supervision of a nurse.
- Aids in the admission process as directed.
- Provides assistance in group settings as necessary under the direction of a nurse or therapist.
- Aids in moving patients between locations on the unit or area where assigned.
- Launder clothes as necessary or directed.
- Redirects patients and applies proper techniques to prevent aggression, falls, or injury.
- Retrieves and delivers medications from the pneumatic tube system or pharmacy as directed.
- Documents vital signs, activities of daily living, sleep hours, safety checks, and environmental checks as appropriate.
- Assists in documenting group activities under the direction of a licensed professional.
- Notifies nurse, therapist, or physician of patient behaviors, needs, and safety concerns.
- Participates in treatment team processes.
- Conducts phone calls, takes messages, and delivers messages as required.
- Orients patients to the program and interacts with them in a therapeutic manner, reporting relevant patient information.
- Conducts environmental and patient safety checks as directed.
- Monitors patients for potential hazards and inspects for contraband items as appropriate.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Crisis Intervention Training within 90 days of employment.
- Proficient in the English language, both verbal and written communication skills, and basic computer skills.
- BLS Certification.
