Mental Health Technician Full Time - Days

About the role
The Mental Health Technician performs routine patient care duties under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role involves assisting with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, monitoring patients for potential aggressive behaviors, and using appropriate interventions to de-escalate situations. The technician reports sensory perceptual alterations, ensures patient safety, and communicates concerns to the Registered Nurse. Additionally, this role supports patients with activities of daily living while fostering independence in a safe and therapeutic environment.
Responsibilities
- Follow instructions from nursing leadership and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
- Report patient medical problems to the Registered Nurse.
- Identify and report alterations in sensory perceptual images, distinguishing between illusions, delusions, and hallucinations.
- Monitor safety issues related to patient behaviors and take action to prevent harm, communicating concerns to the Registered Nurse.
- Provide care that prioritizes safety, patient rights, comfort, and a therapeutic environment.
- Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers in a timely manner, completing required documentation.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of two years of college in psychology, social work, mental health, or related health fields preferred.
- Experience working with emotionally disturbed individuals preferred.
- Employees must be in good standing (e.g., no corrective actions, positive evaluations) to be considered for internal transfers.

Pay
Competitive compensation.
Schedule
- Full-time, 36 hours per week.
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM.
- Every other weekend required.
