About the role

As a Mental Health Technician (ARDOC) (MHT), you will play a vital role in providing mental health services to patients within the facility, working under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor. You will conduct assessments, provide therapy, support patients in their recovery journey, and offer consultation and training to facility personnel to promote a better understanding of mental health issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide mental health services and conduct regular mental health checks and rounds with patients under the direction of a licensed Mental Health Professional, in accordance with relevant professional organizations and state guidelines.
• Deliver psycho-social-educational programming and activities for groups and individuals to improve social, cognitive, problem-solving, and daily living skills of incarcerated patients.
• Triage mental health concerns of incarcerated patients and provide consultation services as assigned.
• Participate in release continuity of care planning for patients.
• Train staff in human behavior and mental health issues.
• Maintain patient confidentiality while interrelating effectively with patients, staff, and outside support agencies.
• Comply with employee standards of the facility, apply principles of critical thinking, sound judgment, and work under stress on a regular basis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mental health/social science field from an accredited college or university. (Professional experience, trainings, and applicable certifications may be considered in lieu of educational requirements on a case-by-case basis.)
• Coursework and professional experience indicating knowledge of working in a correctional setting, mental health interventions, identification of mental health issues, crisis intervention, and mental health consultation preferred.
• Must maintain CPR certification and any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract.
