About the Role

As our Mental Health Tech, you will be on the front lines of patient care, providing essential support and guidance within our therapeutic milieu. Every day you will provide a vital support system for individuals on their journey to mental wellness, contributing to a safe and supportive environment where healing can begin.

Responsibilities

  • Guide patients through a trauma-informed lens, helping them discover healthy ways to express themselves, problem-solve, and build resilience.
  • Provide crucial feedback and positive reinforcement, helping patients acknowledge and take responsibility for their own behavioral patterns.
  • Act as a critical resource in emergency situations, maintaining a secure environment, and providing essential basic nursing tasks like vital signs, specimen collection, and assisting with daily living activities.
  • Facilitate supportive groups, educational activities, and psych-educational sessions, fostering a sense of community and teaching vital socialization skills.
  • Utilize strong communication skills—both verbal and written—to connect with a diverse patient population and collaborate seamlessly with our interdisciplinary team.
  • Become proficient in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) techniques, using them to de-escalate situations, promote positive interpersonal skills, and minimize the need for restrictive interventions.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma with at least one year of experience as a Psych Tech or equivalent.
  • Currently listed on the Nurse Assistant Registry operated by the North Dakota Department of Health (or willing to obtain within 90 days of employment).
  • Ability to obtain within six months of employment: CPI Certification, Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting, and First Aid (if applicable for PRTF).
  • BLS or BLS instructor certification upon hire (American Red Cross, American Safety and Health Institute, or American Heart Association accepted).

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Service field.
  • Graduation from a Psychiatric Assistant or Nurse Aide training program.
  • One year of experience in the Behavioral Health field.
  • Current nursing student or a student studying a Human Services field.

Pay

$15.00 - $20.12 per hour
