About the role
The Float Practitioner will work in various programs—Community Foundations IRTS (Maplewood, MN), Carlson Drake House IRTS (Bloomington, MN), ReEntry House IRTS, and ReEntry Crisis (Minneapolis, MN)—providing support, rehabilitation, and treatment to individuals served. This role emphasizes community-based intensive treatment, using evidence-based practices adapted to client needs and preferences.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct services to residents, including staff coverage and facility security.
- Complete all paperwork, reports, and charting contemporaneously and in an organized manner.
- Co-facilitate or facilitate psychoeducational groups.
- Administer medications (after passing a required medication test) under nursing supervision.
- Conduct house meetings for residents in collaboration with Peer Recovery Specialist.
- Assist therapists in developing treatment plans and orienting new admissions.
- Teach and develop independent living skills (e.g., relaxation, conversation skills, housekeeping, budgeting).
- Identify individuals prone to behavior emergencies and assist in developing appropriate programming.
- Defuse and de-escalate behavior emergencies and assist in programming adjustments.
- Assist with discharge planning and maintain regular work hours.
- Maintain compliance with Minnesota statutes/rules (e.g., DHS variance, MDH SLF, MS 253B, Maltreatment of Vulnerable Adults, Duty to Warn, Minnesota Data Practices Act).
- Participate in professional growth, supervision, and appropriate behavior.
- Transport clients in the community and administer BACs/UDs as scheduled.
- Utilize crisis assessment tools for suicidal/aggressive behaviors and consult with supervisors or emergency resources.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Behavioral Sciences or related field.
- 2,000 hours of supervised experience working with individuals with mental illness and substance abuse treatment.
- Preferred: Education/experience in supported employment and education services.
Pay
$27.48 per hour for evening shifts (4 pm – 12 am) and $28.99 per hour for overnight shifts (12 am – 8 am).
Schedule
- 32 hours per week, primarily Friday–Monday.
- Schedule determined monthly; fully onsite at IRTS facilities.
