Mental Health Practitioner Float - Residential

About the role

Join our team as a Mental Health Practitioner Float, providing professional, quality program services to clients served by Community Foundations IRTS, Carlson Drake House IRTS, ReEntry House IRTS, and ReEntry Crisis. This role emphasizes working with clients in community-based intensive treatment settings, directly providing services to assist clients in achieving their goals using evidence-based practices adapted for the agency and the client's specific needs.

This position operates fully onsite at our IRTS facilities in Maplewood, Bloomington, and Minneapolis, MN.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services to residents, including rehabilitation and treatment.
• Ensure staff coverage, facility security, and general supervision of residents.
• Complete all paperwork, reports, and charting contemporaneously and in an organized manner.
• Co-facilitate or facilitate psychoeducational groups.
• Administer medications under the supervision of the facility's nurse (upon successful completion of required medication test).
• Conduct house meetings for residents in collaboration with Peer Recovery Specialist.
• Assist therapists in developing treatment plans.
• Work effectively and professionally with other treatment team members and attend all scheduled team meetings.
• Assist in the orientation of new admissions to residential care.
• Teach and develop independent living skills (e.g., relaxation, conversation skills, housekeeping, budgeting).
• Identify individuals prone to behavior emergencies and assist in developing additional programming for their needs.
• Help defuse and de-escalate potential behavior emergencies.
• Assist with discharge planning.
• Maintain regular work hours and comply with applicable Minnesota statutes or rules (e.g., DHS variance, MDH SLF, MS 253B).
• Participate in ongoing professional growth and development, including supervision.
• Transport clients in the community.
• Administer BACs and UDs as scheduled or according to the client's treatment plan.
• Utilize crisis assessment tools for suicidal or aggressive behaviors and consult with on-call supervisor or therapist as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences or a related field.
• 2,000 hours of supervised experience working with individuals with mental illness and substance abuse treatment.

Preferred: Education and/or experience providing supported employment and education services.

Pay

$27.48 per hour for evening shifts (4 pm - 12 am) and $28.99 per hour for overnight shifts (12 am - 8 am).

Schedule

• 32 hours per week, with the majority of scheduled hours falling between Friday and Monday.
