Mental Health Practitioner Float - Residential

About the role

The Float Practitioner will work in various programs—Community Foundations IRTS (Maplewood, MN), Carlson Drake House IRTS (Bloomington, MN), ReEntry House IRTS, and ReEntry Crisis (Minneapolis, MN)—providing support, rehabilitation, and treatment to individuals served. This position uses evidence-based practices adapted for the agency and the client’s specific needs, emphasizing community-based intensive treatment settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services to residents, including teaching and developing independent living skills (relaxation, conversation skills, housekeeping, budgeting, etc.).
• Ensure staff coverage, facility security, and general supervision of residents.
• Complete all paperwork, reports, and charting contemporaneously and in an organized manner.
• Co-facilitate or facilitate psychoeducational groups.
• Administer medications (upon successful completion of required medication test) under the supervision of the facility’s nurse.
• Conduct house meetings for residents in collaboration with Peer Recovery Specialist.
• Assist therapists in developing treatment plans and discharge planning.
• Work effectively and professionally with other treatment team members; attend all scheduled team meetings.
• Assist in the orientation of new admissions to residential care.
• Identify individuals prone to behavior emergencies and assist in developing additional programming for their needs.
• Help defuse and de-escalate potential behavior emergencies.
• Maintain regular work hours and comply with applicable Minnesota statutes or rules (e.g., DHS variance, MDH SLF, MS 253B, Maltreatment of Vulnerable Adults, Duty to Warn, Minnesota Data Practices Act).
• Participate in ongoing professional growth and development; maintain appropriate professional behavior and supervision.
• Transport clients in the community.
• Administer BACs and UDs as scheduled or according to the client’s treatment plan.
• Utilize crisis assessment tools for suicidal or aggressive behaviors and consult with on-call supervisor, therapist, or emergency resources as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Behavioral Sciences or related field.
• 2,000 hours of supervised experience working with individuals with mental illness and substance abuse treatment.
• Preferred experience providing supported employment and education services.

Pay

$27.48 per hour for evening shifts (4 pm – 12 am) and $28.99 per hour for overnight shifts (12 am – 8 am).

Schedule

• 32 hours per week, primarily Friday–Monday.
• Schedule determined on a monthly basis.
• Fully onsite at IRTS facilities.
