Mental Health LVN/ LPT

About the role

The LVN/LPT works in a 16-bed facility designed for adults with mental health challenges or a recent crisis. The role involves providing direct client care, administering medications, engaging clients and families, and formulating and implementing nursing care plans.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications, including injections.
• Engage clients and families to determine physical health status.
• Formulate and implement an effective nursing care plan understanding psychiatric illness and its treatment as appropriate for Scope of Practice.
• Demonstrate an understanding of age-related development and other issues for the population(s).

Requirements

• Active, valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license.
• CPR certification.
• First Aid certification from an approved agency (such as the American Red Cross).
• One year of full-time equivalent experience working in a program serving individuals with mental disabilities, or commitment to complete a minimum of 20 hours of regulatory on-the-job training within the first year of employment.
• Valid California Driver’s License (preferred).

Qualifications

• Current CPR certification.
• Current First Aid certification from an approved agency (such as the American Red Cross).
