Mental Health Crisis Worker

About the role

We are seeking a Crisis Service Professional to provide on‑call crisis response, risk assessments, and mobile support for individuals experiencing mental health emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Responding to crisis calls and conducting mobile crisis interventions
• Performing risk assessments and determining appropriate interventions
• Providing brief crisis counseling and follow-up services
• Meeting clients in various settings such as homes, hospitals, and community locations
• Responding to emergency and potential suicide calls
• Gathering information from interviews, records, and collateral contacts
• Connecting clients to community resources and maintaining relationships with law enforcement and community partners
• Documenting client interactions per regulatory standards
• Identifying service gaps and suggesting improvements
• Staying informed on laws, procedures, and best practices in crisis services

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related fields (e.g., social work, psychology, criminal justice)
• Preferably at least one year of experience with mental health clients
• Knowledge of community resources and Wisconsin statutes Chapters 34, 51, and 55
• Strong crisis assessment, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and professionally under pressure
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to respond within an hour to designated counties

Schedule

• Flexible on-call schedule with shifts starting at 4:30 PM or midnight, including overnight and weekend hours
• Occasional daytime meetings and training
