Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide counseling and psychotherapy services to students, including crisis intervention and referrals to off-campus providers.
- Manage caseload effectively, including triage, frequency of sessions, and level of care decisions.
- Participate in campus crisis response as needed.
- Conduct outreach and early intervention efforts to address student mental health needs.
- Provide consultation to university departments (e.g., Residence Life, Advising, Campus Ministry, Academic Affairs, etc.).
- Develop and facilitate psychoeducational workshops and presentations.
Supervision and Training
- Provide clinical supervision to MSCP (Master of Science in Counseling Psychology) interns in accordance with university and licensing board standards.
- Support intern development through case consultation, documentation review, and professional mentorship.
Administrative and Indirect Services
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation (within 24 hours).
- Manage confidential records in accordance with professional and legal standards.
- Respond to communications (phone, email, referrals) in a timely and professional manner.
- Attend Counseling Center meetings, trainings, and assigned university meetings.
- Track and report service utilization and clinical data.
Education and Experience
- License-eligible in the State of Hawai‘i as a Psychologist (Ph.D./Psy.D.) or licensed as an LMFT, LCSW, or LCMHC from an accredited program.
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience.
- Strong skills in individual therapy, crisis intervention, and short-term treatment models.
- Experience working with a wide range of clinical issues (e.g., depression, anxiety, substance use, eating disorders, identity concerns, domestic violence).
- Experience or demonstrated ability to provide clinical supervision to trainees.
- Experience developing and delivering outreach programming.
- Ability to present to both small and large groups.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse populations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
- Strong clinical judgment, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with EHR systems, Microsoft Office, and telehealth platforms.
Desired Qualifications
- Licensed in Hawai‘i.
- 1-2 years of post-licensure experience.
- Experience in a college or university counseling center.
- Experience working with student athletes, LGBTQ+ populations, and multicultural communities.
- Prior experience supervising practicum students or interns.
Physical Requirements
- Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and require a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines.
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds, walk the campus with ease, and have excellent motor skills.
- Must have finger dexterity.
- Must be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
