Mental Health Counselor - Behavioral Health: Part Time - Days

About the role

Humboldt Park Health is a 200-bed, acute care facility deeply committed to serving the Humboldt Park community since 1894. We provide patient-centered healthcare focusing on quality of care, ranging from everyday care to critical needs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care for a group of patients for a designated period to achieve clinical outcomes.
• Manage hand-off communication with incoming and outgoing shifts; conduct rounds to familiarize self with patients on the unit.
• Manage the admission process up to the nursing assessment including contraband checks and new patient orientation and the discharge process.
• Routinely provide one-to-one assistance to assigned patients.
• Demonstrate the ability to supervise the therapeutic milieu including de-escalation techniques.
• Participate in department/unit performance improvement activities.
• Provide assistance with the basic activities of living as required, instruct on all aspects of self-care.
• Execute directives provided by the charge nurse.
• Manage the therapeutic environment.
• Run behavioral health groups.
• Show verbal de-escalation skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree Required.
• CPR certification Required.
• CPI a Plus.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a passion for healthcare and a commitment to serving the community. Experience in behavioral health or related fields is preferred but not required.

• Experience with de-escalation techniques.

Schedule

This position follows a 24-hour part-time schedule with variable hours. It works every other weekend and may have the opportunity to pick up additional hours. Flexibility may be required based on patient and operational needs.
