Responsibilities

  • Provide short-term, goal-oriented individual counseling to a diverse student population.
  • Conduct crisis intervention and risk assessments; provide referrals as needed.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with ethical and legal standards.
  • Collaborate with campus partners (e.g., Student Affairs, Residence Life, Academic Advising) as needed for coordinated student care.
  • Participate in outreach and wellness events that promote mental health awareness.
  • Uphold confidentiality and ethical practices in alignment with professional standards and university policy.
  • Attend required staff meetings and supervision, as scheduled.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Active and unrestricted licensure in the state (e.g., LMHC, LCSW, LPC, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 1 year of post-licensure clinical experience, preferably in a college or young adult setting.
  • Strong clinical skills in assessment, crisis response, and brief counseling.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, international students, and students with disabilities.
  • Strong diagnostic and therapeutic skills, particularly using short-term treatment interventions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice, as well as personal and professional integrity.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to collaborate with other departments and college administrators.
  • Strong crisis assessment and crisis management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Pay

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $57.00.
