Men's & Women's Assistant Track & Field Coach – Throws (COACH AST 3)

Under the general direction of the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, assist in all aspects of an NCAA Division I men's & women's track & field program.

Responsibilities

• Student recruitment
• Scheduling
• Team travel
• Scouting opponents
• Practice planning
• Assisting with the administration of summer camps and clinics
• Administration of the men's & women's track & field program in full compliance with NCAA and university rules and regulations

Key responsibilities breakdown: 70% coaching, 30% recruiting.

Requirements

• CPR & First Aid certified annually
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Three years of successful NCAA Division I collegiate coaching experience in the sport of track & field
• Knowledge of NCAA throwing events (shots, discus, javelin, and hammer)
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
• Knowledge of the rules and strategies of track & field, including teaching techniques, coaching strategies, and safety measures necessary for student-athletes to compete at the collegiate level
• Skills to interact effectively and establish cooperative working relationships with student-athletes, coaching colleagues, department staff, and diverse stakeholders including parents, fans, boosters, media, and officials

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Ability to learn complex policies and procedures regarding academic eligibility of student-athletes, including UC Davis, Mountain West Conference, and NCAA policies

Pay

$45,000 – $58,000 annually.

Schedule

Full-time (100%), fixed appointment. Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
