Memory Design Engineer
About the role
Join Arm’s memory development group, comprising leading experts in deep submicron circuit design. This is a rare opportunity for a memory circuit professional to collaborate with our circuit and layout team on groundbreaking foundries and deep submicron technologies. As a memory designer, you will develop and validate best-in-class memories for Arm CPUs, GPUs, and SoCs, working on advanced process technology nodes.
Responsibilities
- Understand memory architectures and development flows.
- Perform transistor-level full-custom design and collaborate with the physical design team for layout realization.
- Develop new features, optimize, and improve Arm memories to meet Performance, Power, and Area targets in advanced technology (3 nm and beyond).
- Contribute to all parts of the memory development flow: design specification, circuit design, design margining, physical verification, memory characterization, FE verification, release procedure, and QA flow for memories used in CPU, GPU, and SoCs.
- Use AI to develop scripts to improve execution efficiency and quality.
- Ensure high-quality and high-performance memory designs with the lowest possible power for Arm CPUs, GPUs, and SoCs.
Requirements
- Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field with an emphasis in VLSI design, or a Bachelor’s degree with relevant work experience.
- 2-5 years of circuit design experience (SRAM preferred).
- Project experience in physical IP design (memories, standard cells, IOs, or PHYs).
- Understanding of basic memory principles, especially for SRAM.
- Good understanding of technology trade-offs in deep submicron technologies.
- Experience with Cadence Virtuoso or similar schematic and layout editing tools, and with Spice and FastSpice simulators.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Enjoy innovation, continuous improvement, and efficiency enhancements.
Skills
Nice to have:
- Experience designing on silicon technologies at or smaller than 28nm.
- Exposure to CMOS layout.
- Experience with statistical simulations (e.g., Monte-Carlo).
- Basic coding skills in Perl, Tcl, Java, or UNIX.
- Familiarity with AI tools.
Pay
Salary range: $130,100–$176,000 per year. Salary is one component of Arm’s total reward package, which will be shared during the recruitment process.
