Responsibilities
- Maintains an organized and diversified program of individual and group activities.
- Manages and oversees the day-to-day operations of the memory care neighborhood.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for families, providing regular updates and fostering trust through empathy and transparency.
- Communicates verbally and in writing to team members, families, and residents via Caremerge and other mechanisms.
- Prepares and amends a Schedule of Activities one month in advance, reviewing it with the General Manager before finalizing and posting.
- Ensures a full activity program is offered seven days a week.
- Drives the community vehicle.
- Maintains a resident birthday list and mails cards to residents in a timely manner.
- Collaborates with the Wellness Director on resident care needs and clinical changes.
- Organizes and plans wellness conferences for Valeo residents quarterly.
- Maintains records of resident program attendance and engagement in Caremerge.
- Posts the current monthly and daily Schedule of Activities in public areas and shares it with department managers.
- Implements Salus Signature programs and practices into the monthly calendar of events.
- Ensures proper support and care for residents through wellness department systems.
- Develops and distributes care and programming assignments to team members.
- Holds team members accountable for completing all work assignments.
- Executes programs according to the programming calendar.
- Trains community team members on dementia and Valeo.
- Interviews and hires potential new team members using the Valeo Hiring Guide.
- Develops and maintains staffing schedules at least 2 weeks in advance.
- Ensures coverage of all staffing needs on each shift and finds additional coverage when needed.
- Creates and maintains records of planned and implemented scheduled programs for six months.
- Maintains appropriate team member attendance records at meetings and team events.
- Notifies department managers in advance of work schedule variations.
- Accommodates special events, evening, and weekend programs in work schedules.
- Follows all emergency procedures.
- Understands safety policies and procedures.
- Manages team members and volunteers.
- Displays patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a cheerful disposition.
- Creates a positive atmosphere for Residents with an engaging variety of activities.
- Promotes the Community in a positive manner and effectively communicates community values to residents, families, and team members.
Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited college or university, or proof of satisfactory completion of two years of college, with major course of study in recreation or related field, or two years of full-time experience in the recreation field in a senior adult population.
- State driver license required with a clean driving record and completed all HR policies and procedures for Community driver.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Basic typing skills and computer knowledge to include familiarity with MS Word and other pertinent software.
- Physically able to bend and reach.
- Physically able to push and pull and lift up to 40-50 pounds if necessary.
- Physically able to stand for extended periods of time.
