The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art is located in Sarasota, Florida, and is a department of Florida State University.
Responsibilities
- Provides general assistance and stewardship to members and donors as needed.
- Answers all Membership Services inquiries (phone, email, in-person).
- Sells and processes new memberships and renewals, including assisting in the Visitor Pavilion Membership Desk operations as assigned.
- Under the direction of the Membership Manager, implements Membership events & activities.
- Initiates event work orders and attends weekly calendar meetings.
- Works with the Membership Manager to develop and implement timelines to ensure logistics, staffing, and membership goals are met by partnering with other departments, including but not limited to Admissions, Marketing, IT, Events, Education, and Development.
- Updates and maintains the membership RSVP system.
- Assists with Donor and VIP events as needed.
- Responsible for mailings, communications, and record keeping for membership.
- Manages the membership renewal process, gift acknowledgments, and stewardship communications.
- Produces mailing lists and physical membership cards as needed.
- Serves as backup for Membership & Development Data Manager for the renewal and fulfillment process specific to the membership program.
- Exports and merges data from the database into spreadsheets and/or documents as needed.
- Maintains membership databases and files.
- Researches and makes recommendations to improve internal processes and procedures.
- Provides administrative support to Membership & Development Departments.
- Orders/maintains supplies, initiates expenditure requests, and produces work orders.
- Submits requisitions and creates POs in Ringling/FSU procurement systems.
- Oversees and coordinates volunteers, including recruiting, training, and scheduling.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned that support museum operations and provides general assistance for the Development at the museum, which may include supporting events and general assistance as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and four years' experience or a combination of post-high school education and experience equal to four years. (Higher education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
- Valid Florida driver's license or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time and lift up to 25 lbs.

- Exemplary customer service, hospitality, concierge, or guest experience skills with a focus on creating positive and memorable interactions.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to effectively manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and telephone communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with varying audiences.
- Ability to communicate in multiple languages in addition to English is preferred and considered an asset.
- Skill in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced expertise in Excel and Outlook.
- Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to embrace change and thrive in evolving work environments.
- Experience utilizing customer retention systems, such as Salesforce and Tessitura.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to build positive relationships by motivating, collaborating with, and supporting internal and external stakeholders.
Pay
Anticipated salary range: $36,250 or higher annually. Final offer amount will be determined based on the education, skills, and experience of the selected applicant.
Schedule
- Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a one-hour meal period.
- Weekends, evenings, and holidays may be required per the needs of the Ringling.
