About the Role

This position is responsible for the documentation and filing of loan bankruptcy materials with the appropriate attorneys and courts, and for the documentation and referral process of legal accounts. The role ensures full compliance with loan bankruptcy regulations and legal processes, and reports directly to the Member Solutions Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate bankruptcy and recovery litigation matters with attorneys and collection agencies (50% of role). Duties include confidential projects, problem resolution, research, and payment support under limited direction. Inform the Manager of any developing adversarial situations.
  • Administer various actions and activities associated with Credit Union litigation, including drafting/reviewing court pleadings and preparing documents.
  • Verify bankruptcy security and acquire copies of proposed Chapter 13 Plans for all secured accounts.
  • Process Chapter 7 reaffirmation agreements.
  • Prepare and maintain reports, files, and tracking systems to ensure timely updates, follow-ups, and processing of information to protect the Credit Union's interest (30% of role).
  • Review bankruptcy notices in collaboration with attorneys, management, and members, including petitions, claims, motions, affidavits, and schedules.
  • Apply bankruptcy, legal, and recovery payments to the proper accounts (10% of role). Handle all bankruptcy and legal calls and correspondence. Manage Pacer online processing and compile reports as requested by management.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and service standards, as well as applicable laws and regulations (5% of role).
  • Perform all other job responsibilities as assigned by management (5% of role).

Requirements

  • One to two years of collections experience and/or one to two years of financial industry experience.
  • Knowledge of collections and bankruptcy laws and regulations preferred.
  • High school degree or GED.
  • Must be bondable.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
  • Capable of bending, sitting, and standing.
  • Capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situations.
  • Able to operate routine office equipment, including computer terminals, keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators.
  • Able to work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day.
  • Able to work extended hours or travel off-site as required or requested by management.
  • Capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

  • Routinely perform work indoors in a climate-controlled shared work area with minimal to moderate noise.
