Role Overview

As our Meetings & Events Intern, you'll coordinate assigned planning and execution workstreams across hosted conferences, internal events, tradeshows, and seminars. You'll take ownership of defined deliverables, keep details moving, and partner with event professionals, marketers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver organized, engaging experiences. This internship is a strong fit for someone who can manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly, and turn plans into action in a fast-paced environment. You'll bring a practical, hands-on approach to event operations while building expertise across the event lifecycle.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Own defined event-design and planning workstreams from brief through delivery, with guidance from the Meetings & Events Team.
  • Coordinate assigned planning and execution workstreams for Cvent's flagship conference, Cvent CONNECT, including speaker management, session logistics, schedules, and attendee experience support.
  • Plan and execute assigned components of internal company events, including virtual, hybrid, and in-person programs, department initiatives, and team engagement events.
  • Create and/or maintain event timelines, task trackers, documentation, and status updates so stakeholders understand priorities, dependencies, and next steps.
  • Coordinate event technology logistics for select programs, including registration setup, attendee tracking, basic video and streaming support, reporting, and pre- and post-event evaluations.
  • Solicit, receive and track event invoices, expenses, and budget details; support timely reconciliation and escalate discrepancies or risks to the appropriate team member.
  • Assist with trade show and seminar logistics, including calendar management, shipping event materials, and tracking deliveries and returns as needed.
  • Contribute to event operations projects that improve processes, simplify recurring work, and strengthen inventory and asset management.
  • Serve as a dependable day-to-day partner for assigned tasks, responding to questions, following through on commitments, and surfacing issues early.
  • Identify risks early, communicate changes clearly, and bring forward options when plans shift.
  • Provide reliable and additional operational support to the Meetings & Events Team as priorities shift.

Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating events, programs, marketing activities, or operational projects; professional, campus, volunteer, or equivalent experience is welcome.
  • Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple timelines and follow through on commitments.
  • A proactive, practical approach to problem-solving and the confidence to take initiative within defined areas of responsibility.
  • Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills, including a polished email, phone, and video presence.
  • Comfort supporting virtual and hybrid experiences, with curiosity about event technology and new tools.
  • Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly; experience with event or marketing platforms is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, plus virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in marketing, hospitality, communications, business, or a related field with plans to graduate in or around May 2027, and is in good academic standing; a GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
  • Ability to commute to our headquarters in Tysons Corner, VA.

What Success Looks Like

  • Assigned event workstreams stay organized, on schedule, and connected to the broader program plan.
  • Move defined workstreams forward based on direction and guidance.
  • Ask focused questions and confirm priorities.
  • Stakeholders receive clear updates, useful documentation, and timely follow-through.
  • Event details are handled with care, from registration and technology logistics to materials, invoices, and attendee support.
  • Stay calm, flexible, and solutions-oriented when event plans change.
  • You spot opportunities to improve recurring processes and make the team's work easier to execute.
