About the role

The Harris County – Houston Sports Authority is seeking a well-rounded student looking to excel in the sports industry. Our Events interns have an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and hands-on experience working alongside the Events Team.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside and assist the Event Operations Manager & Athlete Affairs & Accommodation
  • Contribute to the planning, organization, and execution of events
  • Manage and cultivate vendor relationships for supplies and equipment
  • Aid with event planning and logistics
  • Aid with travel logistics for athletes and officials for upcoming events
  • Aid with booking athlete accommodations
  • On-site event support to include, management, set-up, and teardown
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Eligible candidates must be at least Junior level college/university student or graduate student enrolled as a full-time college/university student and must receive academic credit for this internship.
  • Applicant must be available for a minimum of 20 hours a week
  • Valid driver’s license (be prepared to use personal vehicle to travel to and from site all of which will be within Harris County)
  • During event dates, must be available to work long hours including holidays, weekends, and evenings if necessary
  • Lift up to 45 pounds repeatedly, work outdoors and stand for long periods of time
  • Active interest in working in professional sports.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Compensation

This is an unpaid position, not eligible for HCHSA employee benefits; academic credit only.

Application Instructions

We are seeking students who live in the greater Houston - Harris County area, or are willing to relocate at their own expense. Applicants must have a personal vehicle that can be used to travel to and from the office and to events within Harris County. Applicants must also be able to get enrolled in a college/university course to receive credit for a Fall 2026 internship. Applicants must be able to work in person a minimum of 20 hours a week (Monday - Friday between the hours of 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM).
