Medicare Specialist

At First Mid, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of discretionary short-term incentives (i.e. bonus, incentives, and/or commission). The Medicare Specialist is responsible for assisting prospective and existing members with Medicare plan education, enrollment support, and ongoing customer service. This role serves as a primary point of contact for individuals seeking guidance on Medicare products and coverage options while ensuring a high-quality member experience. The position exists to drive enrollment growth, support retention efforts, cross-selling, and build trusted relationships through accurate product knowledge and effective communication. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Educate prospective and existing members on Medicare products, benefits, and coverage options through inbound and outbound callsAssist individuals with plan selection, enrollments, and policy-related inquiries while delivering a high-quality customer experienceMeet established production, retention, and performance goalsMaintain accurate documentation of member interactions and enrollment activity within company systemsStay informed on Medicare guidelines, carrier products, and organizational procedures to ensure accurate communication and service delivery Qualifications Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferredPrevious experience in Medicare sales, health insurance, customer service, or inside sales preferredActive health insurance license (or ability to obtain and maintain licensure as required)Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills Skills: Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and explain Medicare products clearlyExcellent customer service skills and ability to manage sensitive or confidential information professionallyStrong attention to detail and organizational skills for accurate documentation and enrollment processingAbility to meet established production, quality, and performance expectations consistently Total Rewards: Competitive health, dental & vision coverage with HSA match401(k) with employer match + Employee Stock Purchase PlanGenerous PTO, paid holidays & parental leaveTuition reimbursement & performance-based bonusesVisit our Total Rewards page to see our full list of benefits First Mid Bancshares, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity employer.
