Patient Care Specialist (FT)

About the role

Patient Care Specialists play a crucial role in supporting the health center staff at Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York (PPCWNY). They are responsible for handling the intake process, performing routine tests, and providing patient support and education.

Responsibilities

• Handle the intake process, including greeting patients, verifying insurance, and screening for eligibility programs.
• Record data accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Perform routine tests and assist clinicians in the exam room.
• Prepare and clean exam rooms, and manage supplies and documentation.
• Support surgical abortion services and assist with patient referrals.
• Operate telephones, schedule appointments, and maintain a clean work area.
• Assist with patient education and provide emergency contraceptives and birth control.
• Review charges and enter CVR data into EPM.
• Provide excellent customer service and perform clerical duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Medical Assistant certification desired.
• 2-4 years of experience in a clinical role.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Organized, able to prioritize tasks, and handle multiple projects.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and email.
• Flexible schedule and willingness to travel to multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Medical Assistant certification desired.
• Experience: 2-4 years of experience in a clinical role.
• Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Discreet handling of client information, organization, prioritization, excellent customer service, multi-tasking, teamwork, computer skills, and flexibility.
