Medicare Sales Advocate I
This position supports the CDPHP Medicare Sales team. Leadership is open to considering candidates who reside within the CDPHP service area in New York State, including the Albany, Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, Utica, and Binghamton regions.
About the role
The Medicare Sales Advocate (MSA) is responsible for finding Medicare solutions for beneficiaries by explaining CDPHP’s Medicare benefits and plans to prospective members, as well as assisting CDPHP Medicare Authorized Agents. This role qualifies prospective members and arranges enrollment meetings with a CDPHP Authorized Sales Agent. The MSA also resolves eligibility and enrollment-related questions and responds to internal and external customer inquiries received via email or phone. A flexible schedule is required to meet all Medicare regulations.
Responsibilities
- Accurately explain CDPHP Medicare products to beneficiaries.
- Meet sales and retention goals as determined by management.
- Resolve eligibility and enrollment-related questions.
- Assist CDPHP Medicare Sales Agents with benefit inquiries, enrollment, and eligibility-related questions.
- Respond to customer inquiries, both internal and external, via phone and/or email.
- Independently identify and solve problems by implementing appropriate solutions within the department and/or organization.
- Remain up to date on Medicare guidelines and CDPHP internal policies and procedures.
- Meet monthly sales coaching and production standards as determined by management.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Macess, MARx, inContact, and CRM systems, and consistently enter accurate and appropriate documentation.
- Work closely with other departments within the organization.
- Conduct sales presentations to walk-in prospects.
- Adhere to all Medicare, Department of Insurance, and company guidelines.
- Work cohesively with all team members to ensure the team meets established goals for accuracy, timeliness, and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure confidentiality of all data in compliance with department and Plan confidentiality policies.
- Comply with CDPHP’s Corporate Compliance Policy and all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and standards of conduct; report any suspected violations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
- NYS Life, Accident, and Health Insurance License required or secured within 60 days of hire (3 attempts allowed).
- Must successfully complete AHIP certification (3 attempts allowed).
- Must successfully complete product exams (3 attempts allowed).
- Minimum two years of direct selling or telemarketing experience, or one year of experience in a health-related field.
- Experience with Medicare strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel preferred.
- Experience with a computer-based documentation system or customer relationship management (CRM) software to track inquiries received.
- Ability to apply problem-solving and time management methodology to organizational challenges.
- Demonstrated public speaking ability preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate with external and internal contacts both verbally and in written correspondence.
- Ability to interpret and make decisions based on prospective member needs, corporate underwriting guidelines, and federal Medicare Advantage regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and capability to meet established productivity and quality standards.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work from home when necessary and/or required by management.
Pay
Compensation range: $22.50/hr – $35/hr. Actual salary will vary depending on factors including budget, prior experience, knowledge, skill, education, and internal equity.
